This delightful piece makes no pretense of being anything but a crowd pleaser. Stylistically, it is pure pastiche, unashamedly 19th century in harmony, melody, and sturcture. The Primo part is designed to showcase the pianistic achievements of an intermediate performer. The Secondo part, with its rich chords and contrapuntal lines requires a more advanced player. Together, they create a whole that is galvanic and full of character. Hearty applause is all but assured after the final double bar.
